Saint Katharine’s holy life was spent
among impoverished
Native American and African American peoples,
to bring Jesus Christ your Son
and His Mother Mary to them.
She now dwells with You for all eternity.

You have loved
and cared for me all my life
and I know you will not abandon me
during this illness.

I pray especially
through the intercession of Saint Katherine Drexel,
who tended her stepmother,
ill from cancer, for three years.
Her suffering inspired Saint Katherine
with a love for God’s people,
especially the American Indian and African American.
I pray for healing
that I may continue to love and serve You
but I believe that whatever you decide will be the best for me.

with great joy we bring our child to you for Holy Baptism,
the first of all the Sacraments.
It is the doorway to our Catholic Christian life
which is the path we intend for our child’s future.
Help us to be faith-filled parents for our little one,
who will follow in our footsteps.
Guide us daily in meaningful prayer and devotions.

We pray, O God, especially through the intercession
of Saint Katharine Drexel,
who was born and died right in our own city.
Her passion to spread our Catholic faith
to Native and African Americans,
achieved much success,
due mainly to her profound dedication to the Blessed Sacrament.

You gave us your own Divine Son, Jesus,

You have called me to discern the holy priesthood.
During these days of prayer, study and formation,
I ask for the graces of humility, wisdom and generosity,
that I may grow in the likeness
of Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest.

I call upon you, Saint Katharine Drexel,
a Philadelphia heiress,
who discerned your vocation
while giving palliative care to your step- mother
over a three-year period.
You initially were drawn
to enter contemplative religious life.
Through prayer and spiritual direction
you came to realize
that God was calling you to religious life
combining action and contemplation.
May your own discernment serve me
during these years of priestly formation.

Pray for me, Saint Katharine,
to make selfless and wise decisions.
You spent your life devoted
to African and Native American people.
You founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament:
help me always to remember
the centrality the Holy Eucharist
must always have in my own daily life.

during these past several years
of study and formation.
Help me to be ever grateful for your gifts
from the Holy Spirit and for all the persons
who helped me to come to this special point
in my life’s journey.

of Saint Katharine Drexel,
as Catholic education was so critical
to her mission to make known the Faith.
She and her beloved Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament
gave all they had in this great work of the Church,
holding Christ as central to its success.
May she now watch over me
as I journey through adulthood.
Also, may she help me to keep Jesus at the center
in all of my important choices and decisions yet to come.
