Continuing the Mission
The Shrine of Saint Katharine Drexel exists within a larger community of people and institutions who share a commitment to keeping her witness alive. The Shrine works in relationship with the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, and others who continue to promote Saint Katharine’s spirituality, history, and mission.
Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament
Saint Katharine Drexel founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1891. The Sisters continue the mission she entrusted to them, serving the Church through education, pastoral ministry, spiritual ministry, and other forms of service, with a particular concern for Black and Native American communities.
The Shrine is grateful for the Sisters’ ongoing partnership and for the living witness they provide to Saint Katharine’s charism.
A Mission Shared by Many
Saint Katharine’s legacy belongs not only to the past. It continues wherever people educate, evangelize, serve, welcome, advocate for human dignity, and bring the love of Christ to others. The Shrine welcomes partnerships with parishes, schools, religious communities, Catholic organizations, and others who desire to share her story.
