Saint Katharine Drexel

St. Katharine Drexel’s body has been translated from the Motherhouse of the Community she founded, the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, in Bensalem PA, to the Cathedral Basilica.  Currently, it is not possible to visit her tomb, as
construction of the new tomb is in progress. The tomb will be located at the rear of the Chapel side aisle adjacent to the Drexel Family altar.  The construction includes a back wall and platform for the current tomb and woodcut that will come to us from the Motherhouse. Once the construction and the installation of the tomb is complete, the area of the new tomb will be open for visits and prayer.

Everything about Saint Katharine Drexel’s life as a religious, a foundress, and servant of those in need derived from her faith and love for the Most Blessed Sacrament.  From the Holy Eucharist, this saintly woman who is an example for us, received the grace and strength to further the Kingdom of the Lord.  May the presence of Saint Katharine in our Basilica prompt many to live the Gospel more fully and faithfully from the graces of Holy Communion.
Saint Katharine Drexel, pray for us!
